Just days before his arrival in Turkey for the annual NATO summit, President Trump made it clear that in his mind, he and the world's largest defense alliance are not on good terms.
"The United States spends more money on NATO than any other country, by far, to protect them, without getting any benefit from so doing," he posted on social media on July 2, adding, "Ridiculous!"
I think it's reasonable to conclude they discussed how to advance one of Putin's highest priorities, which is the dissolution of NATO, or at least US separation from it.
How many NATO leaders did Trump have long meetings with prior to this NATO summit? Any?
Prior to any high level international meeting, it makes sense to have prior discussions to ensure success in advancing common goals. First foreign service functionaries, then heads of state.
Seriously, did Trump or his State Dept. have any prior meetings or discussions with our allied counterparts to advance our mutual agenda?
Was Putin the only head of state he talked to, who happens to lead the adversarial nation that posed the threat for which the NATO alliance was created in the first place?
If the transcript from that 90 minute conversation was known, would it reveal treason?
