Bootlicking Sycophants Need Not Apply -- Tom Sullivan [View all]

Where does Trump find these losers?

One story this week has not garnered the attention it deserves. It regards the "Dear Chairman Grassley and Ranking Member Durbin" letter from 1,200 former Department of Justice employees opposed to Donald Trump's nomination of his former(?) personal attorney, Todd Blanche, to serve as U.S. Attorney General.

"Former" in the sense that Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) expressed to Punchbowl News last month: "I have to be convinced that Todd is not the president's personal attorney who happens to be attorney general, but that Todd is the attorney general who used to be the president's personal attorney."

Justice Connection, a DOJ alumni group, crafted the letter and gathered the signatures of Blanche opponents:

"Since his confirmation as Deputy Attorney General, Todd Blanche has shown time and again that his guiding star is fealty to the President, not the Constitution," said Stacey Young, executive director and founder of Justice Connection. "That fealty led to the purge of thousands of experienced career employees, a loss that will have a generational impact on the Justice Department's ability to carry out its mission and maintain credibility with the courts and the American people."

In essence, Blanche is another of Trump's bootlicking sycophants.

The Justice Connection explains that under Blanche's temporary DOJ stewardship he's engaged in "the vindictive prosecutions and investigations of the President's foes; the deals designed to reward lawbreakers with taxpayer dollars; the erasure of accountability for January 6; the mishandling of the Epstein files; and the denigration of judges and repeated violations of their orders."

(Other than that, Mrs. Capone, your husband is just an honest businessman, right?)
