The men they marry are looking for someone to take the place of their mother and do everything for them. These men also want absolute control over them, including even being able to rape them whenever they want, or Biblically physically / emotionally abuse them. They want absolute power over you.

Then, when you turn 30 or so, you'll be too old for them. They'll kick you to the curb and look for a new young woman (or girl) to take control over and have absolute power over. If they don't kick you to the curb, they'll start ramping up the abuse because they resent you.

Then, you'll be cast into the world with no career or life skills. You've been dependent your whole life on a man. You will have nowhere to go, as, your abuser likely tried to cut you off from as many people as possible to reduce your social circle.

It's about control and misogyny. It always has been. It's men hating women, and, women being taught to hate themselves.
