Yes, the midterm elections will be a great test of partisan political power as Trump Republicans try to rig things in their favor. And if Trump tries to use military means to interfere with the elections, this must be seen as an absolute admission of his illegitimacy and political failure. How could he and his minority continue to govern by force in such a large and divided country? And what would our allies and adversaries do in reaction to this weakened state?
My hope is that many of the millions of people who never bother to vote will do so because they now have a visceral hatred of Trump and all his cronies. The massive corruption, Epstein affair, war and general lunacy may have awakened The Silent Majority to take the time to pay attention to politics and vote. Some may come to realize that not voting is the same as saying yes to those who would destroy the country.
