Kim Davis's behavior specifically -- not so fast! It was a SECRET meeting that he knew would become known, but without statement or public appearance with her from him.

I love Francis's call for principled civil disobedience every bit as much as our very conservative neighbors are appalled at the very idea of encouraging opposition to authority. Sadly for us, Kim's is the ONLY current nationally discussed example of civil disobedience in this nation. Francis wants to encourage civil disobedience, and yet: He refused to acknowledge HER in public.

Maybe he didn't like her choosing a method of disobedience that might improve her chances of reelection. Or maybe it was signing up with GoFundMe.org to cash in on this. Or perhaps allowing that snake-oil salesman Huckabee on the stage with her was a problem.

In any case, this looks to me like yet another of those wire-walking positions he's taking as he works to chivvy us all into moving forward.
