2. I was lucky enough to travel in Europe in the '80s and 90s.

Even then, I was beyond amazed at public transportation. We used it everywhere we could. When we got back to the states, I couldn't stand using my car. It didn't make sense. Still doesn't. Unfortunately, I live in an area where there is very little public transportation. I'm outside of the city, and nothing comes out my way.
