You are to be commended and applauded for remarkable emotional & psychological strength. It is rare.
I also chose not to have kids due to a drop dead drunk for a father and narcissist for a mother.
It sounds like your experiences were far worse than mine, and I know mine was confusing to say the least.
I decided I wanted my life as my own, after watching not just my parents' behavior, but all three of my older sisters have children at age 15, then struggled with no support from my parents. My sisters are now solid, good people with successful careers who succeeded despite nearly everything stacked against them.
Having children is not the magical experience told in fairy tales. At least not for some, and I have not regretted my decision at any time in my life.
I met my beloved, wonderful wife of 22 years and she was unable to have children due to medical reasons so we are a happy, loving, caring couple who volunteer, donate and love animals.
We currently have two cats.
So phuck off J.D. Vance, MAGA and "Good Christians" because we're happy. With that said my wife wanted children and a family more than anything else in her life and she couldn't have them. She's come to terms with it, but the "Christian God" decided my wife wasn't able to have kids, and now the MAGA are saying she's somehow "less than those with kids"?

Finally - again sir or madam - be proud of who you are and take a bow for being one of the few humans, it seems, who knows who you are and what is actually best for you, and not based on what you've been told.
