when the state legalizes gay marriage, they want a national "marriage protection act" and when local entities like municipalities want to protect trans people, they want the state to intervene with bathroom bills.

so if the state is doing something racist like segregation they are for state's rights but if a state wants to do something humane like enforce women's reproductive rights or legalize weed they want a national abortion ban and federal drug prohibition.

I'll admit they have gotten a bit better on the weed thing (just because enough of them smoke pot, which is weird they are so uptight) but have become way more reactionary on everything else.
