In reply to the discussion: Tony Hinchcliffe doubles down on racist Trump rally jokes and hits out at critics: 'Change your tampon' [View all]PurgedVoter
(2,442 posts)Here he was representing and warming up the crowd for a person he wanted to be the President of the United States. That I think would have most people, most comedians, anyone who had gotten anywhere, thinking carefully about putting their best foot forward.
He was using his best material and this was what he came up with. Wow. The crew that filtered this and put it on the teleprompter thought this was great material and worthy of a presidents intro. They all figured that kicking down with racist tones was a great warm up and a great idea. They all chuckled over this.
Even after the response, after he kicked down and basically said that large groups were trash, he is now upset that we did not get the joke. We got the joke. We entirely got the joke. The problem here is that not only did he think this was "A" material, but he still thinks it is "A" material. His target audience agreed with him and this makes all of them look really bad.
It is sad when a good artist shows problems. It puts us all in a position where we debate between the worth of the art and the monstrosity of the artists crime. A lot of us have issues with Cosby, Jackson and the guy who played Kramer. There are others on the list. In this case though, Tony never produced anything that any of us will regret the damage done to art. It is pathetic that he managed to get his five minutes and toss it away in this manner.
He did not make fun of everyone, like he said he did, he left white racist angry idiots off the list of people he wanted to insult. He did not make fun of White Supremacists, Nazis or Fascists.
