3. My father had esophageal cancer at age 83 .. he had an esophagectomey (surgical removal of the esophagous).

It was tough, but he was tough. He lived another eight years, to age 91. One of my younger sisters had a partial esophagectomy/gastrectomy last year, and she is doing OK .. she is now 74, and she also has Parkinson's.
