especially when you are on a very limited income of less than $35,000 a year. However, when I watch the very hard earned pennies I saved I regard the price of living in CA as an insurance of sorts. I know my state will do whatever it can to help me pay my ACA subsidies and Climate Change issues as well as a zillion other ways my taxes benefit me a a CA resident. I receive what I pay in state taxes many times over what I "invested" in my CA taxes. I did the math many times and receive the same answer and that answer is that I DO benefit financially in the long run.
