During the Chinese cultural revolution Mao and his party condemned, imprisoned and killed Chinese teachers, performers & artists, and ordered the destruction of books not aligned with his vision. History was no longer an academic field of study but became a tightly controlled government department. Those who can re-write history are those who control our future. To get what he wanted, Mao revised history to suit his agenda. Sound familiar?
