In reply to the discussion: Biden calls for immediate ceasefire in call with Netanyahu, White House says [View all]Gaugamela
(2,730 posts)34. The question is whether Netanyahu can negotiate in good faith, which is what
I said. Israel has a long history of sabotaging talks by piling on a tranche of unacceptable demands at the last moment, because they never wanted an agreement in the first place. They want to annex Gaza and the West Bank, and to ethnically cleanse or annihilate the Palestinians. White European settler colonialism always decimates the indigenous population, all the while calling them savages or terrorists and blaming them for their own demise. Small wonder it was Britain and the US who spearheaded the establishment of Israel, which they did, by the way, because they didnt want all those Jewish refugees landing on their shores.
BBC 1/14/25
"The deal is almost ready and I think the Palestinian side has agreed to it, accepted it. They're waiting for the Israeli final response," Mustafa Barghouti has told BBC Radio 4's World at One programme.
"So were closer to the deal than any time before," he says, adding that is because "Netanyahu could not tolerate anymore the internal Israeli pressure and external pressure, especially coming from Trump."
When pressed by the interviewer to clarify if Hamas had agreed to the deal he said: "Yes I can say that they have accepted all the conditions. And it's not the first time... this deal is almost identical to what was proposed in July and it was Netanyahu who undermined that.
We've lost more than 10,000 lives in the process in the six months."

Wrong! 10/7 was a horrific terrorist attack, but not an existential issue for Israel, just as 9/11 was not
