It's best to stay home and off the roads until this melts. Southerners don't know how to drive in the icy snowy mess, and besides that, their cars probably aren't winterized.

I happened to be in Dallas one winter when they were hit by an ice storm in the middle of the week, and EVERYONE called off work. Nobody wanted to take a chance on the roads, plus the schools were closed for 2 days. It's the smartest thing to do.
