It's their job to gaze adoringly at their husbands, and nod and grin vapidly at everything their husbands say.

Mrs. Aristus once cautioned me against going into politics. She said she can do the gaze adoringly thing, no problem. But no way was she going to nod and grin enthusiastically at everything I say.
