What is going on now is NOT a routine cycle in this country or elsewhere in the western democracies. Certainly in the past dictatorships of S. America, Eastern Europe past and in Hitler's Nazi realm but not here. We've had some horrible politics in this country, but nothing approaching what Trump is trying to do.
