we simply must get more educated, as a society, about firearms. If you want to own them for hunting or target practice, fine. Keep them locked up. But if you own them for "protection" everyone needs to understand that just by having a firearm in the home, you are LESS SAFE.

You are far more likely to accidentally shoot someone or commit suicide than using it to shoot an intruder. Unless you have military or law enforcement training, if you pull a weapon on an armed assailant, they're going to pull the trigger first. Why? Because they're a criminal! You have probably never shot another human being. They may have!
