. . . the whole episode was staged.

The people who are being handed the AR-15 magazines appear to be lard-assed, snaggle-toothed characters who were part of the demonstration. Likely staged, invited, and transported by the "Virginia Civilian Defense League," a wacky pro-gun group.

Anyone who needs 30 rounds for hunting should take up needlepoint.

EDITED: Friend of mine who was at the Capitol in Richmond at the time says the "crowd " was a bunch of folks from a couple of Southwest Virginia counties (Trump country), all of whom handed their magazines to one guy, then, they got in line and walked by him as he handed back the mags . . . the whole damn thing was staged.
