* Pre-K through high school, unable to read, write, think.
* Children going hungry. No school also means no paid lunches, maybe breakfasts as well.
* Parents work, so children are left at home, unattended and not protected from themselves and other children.
* Older children roaming around without supervision, either engaging in criminal mischief or outright crimes.
* At least one generation of children unable to attend community college or college.
* Children growing up and unable to get and keep good-paying jobs.
* Towns in turmoil with undocumented children not being monitored. Yeah, while taxes may go down because of enrollment being decreased, other taxes increase due to more police involvement with the youth.

And dammit! It's hard enough to educate this demographic of students as it currently exists. I sub-teach in towns with more than 50% undocumented students. If we're not challenged by lack of bilingual education, then it's getting their parents involved in order for them to take their studies seriously. Just the opposite: you get the feeling that they believe education isn't "cool" and it's another barrier to success.
