I'm pretty sure that Washington State supplemented Federal funds to the tune of hundreds of millions out of the state budget.
I have little doubt that California, and other states -- at least blue states -- used state funds to supplement the Federal program.
I also have NO doubt that the calculations the landlords have conjured up assume full occupancy and immediate re-occupancy at full rent, which as you point out, is a joke when people are going broke as the economy contracts.
I also have no doubt the trump administration will be DELIGHTED to hand billions to undeserving landlords.
They want the costs of the National Emergency to be born on the backs of ordinary people with our tax dollars making big business "whole."
And they make such a big deal out of the relative pittance regular people got. People who lost their job or business as a result of the pandemic sure weren't made "whole" by the $3200. Where do they get to go to be made "whole"??
Whatever he does, I want the Democratic House to conduct a FULL AUDIT in 2028 to identify the "double-dippers" (landlords who were already compensated by Federal and/or state funds, and re-calculation of loses based on ACTUAL levels of occupancy and rates of re-occupancy statistics adjusted to model the lousy, and growing lousier, economic conditions.
To hell with making multi-multimillionaire and billionaire assholes "whole." As far as I'm concerned anyone with a net worth of over 5 million who lost less than 30% can just suck it up like the rest of us who lost far greater percentages of smaller nest eggs.
