But it's good for NATO, or the EU really, to be able to defend themselves, aggressively if needed, and even go on offense when appropriate. Modern European nations need that capability, at least right now, with Russia raising dust.

It's good for us to not have an oversized responsibility for their security, and I think they resent us a bit for it, anyhow.

It impacts our projection of force based on self interest, sure. But we're still in NATO, and we can still fly out of Germany to defend Europe. There will just be more European jets and pilots in the air with us, and we won't have the default last word on strategy.

Like everything, it's a mixed bag, IMHO.
