U.S. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, subpoenaed Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner on Wednesday over what Jordan called his "office's sanctuary policies."
In a public letter, Jordan said that Krasner's office has not sent the House Judiciary Committee a "single responsive document" since the committee requested information on the treatment of undocumented immigrants on May 4, 2026. Jordan is accusing Krasner's office of giving "preferential treatment" of undocumented immigrants so "that they do not face immigration consequences for their criminality."
Jordan's letter did say that Krasner responded to the request at least two separate times. The first, on May 18, claimed Jordan's request was "baseless," which Jordan refuted. The second, on July 7, made "ad hominem attacks and placing bizarre and baseless demands and conditions on your cooperation with the Committees oversight."
In a video posted to social media on Wednesday, Krasner called Jordan's letter a "nastygram" and said he wanted a public hearing over the issue.
