Any high school student should be able to understand how tariffs work, who pays them, & how they can start "trade wars," but Trump clearly doesn't & he wants to set economic policy???

He also said he would be "taxing foreign nations," which is something a US President CANNOT do. The President, & in fact the US as a nation, has no power or authority to impose taxes on other countries.

Both of those are simple essential concepts that any candidate for POTUS should understand, but Trump clearly doesn't.

That is disqualifying (along with a laundry list of other things) & the media should be reporting on it & asking him follow-up questions, asking him to explain how he thinks tariffs work, who pays them, & how he thinks he & the USA has the authority to impose taxes on foreign nations. But him on the spot because his lack of fundamental knowledge is astounding.
