Consolation prize for losing to Lindsay Graham?

I'm not trying to be snarky here, by any means, but how in the world have we been able to hold what we have with the DNC being
"moribund" as the Wapo piece calls it? And what is it that seems to prevent us from being able to put together an ongoing, central campaign, addressing major issues and getting ahead of media coverage in an age where half of the cameras and microphones seem automatically programmed to follow Trump.
