Given what we all already suffered during the Felon's first term and his escalating megalomaniacal threats, this pardon was an obvious essential move, even if there were some consequences in the form of missed opportunities to publicize propagandizing, lying, and criminal gaming of the judicial system. Of course it has been amply demonstrated that almost half the country is too ignorant or oblivious to care about such things, so perhaps in reality almost no downside to the pardon.
