Exactly 597 days ago, the Ukrainian defence forces destroyed Moscow's plans to 'take Kyiv in three days' and the myth about the 'second army in the world'. The Kremlin was betting on a blitzkrieg, but the Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled a full-scale offensive in February 2022. Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Sumy, Odessa and Mykolayiv withstood, largely thanks to the consolidation of Ukrainian society. Those who could - took up arms, others dug trenches and became volunteers.
