One of my step daughters once called me after she was an adult and said "Mom, as a teenager, I used to think you were too strict. Now I am just grateful that you were. I don't think I could ever cope with the battles of real life or a budget, had it not been that you had the strength to keep me on the straight and narrow and teach me survivor skills needed for everyday life. So Thank You". The others usually write thinks along those line in the cards I get on special days and in the many phone calls I get from them. So I guess somewhere along the line, I did something right.
