In reply to the discussion: What's your favorite brand of coffee, or do you stay away from caffeine? [View all]Farmgirl1961
(1,576 posts)89. We started out simple
We bought a used air popcorn popper for $3.00, bought a couple of pounds of green organic coffee beans on Amazon and watched a video. After a few months, we bought a JAVASTARR air popper on sale in Amazon for about $60.00. I then started buying my coffee beans from Burman coffee roasters. We used the JAVASTARR for about a year, until the motor died. About 2-3 months ago we bought the SR-800 roaster and the extension tube.
Its been a fun learning process. We log each roast with respect to fan, power and time. It usually takes 10 minutes to roast 8 oz.

Do you mean NO caffeine too? (no tea, soft drinks, energy drinks, caffeine tablets, chocolate or OTHER stimulants?)

Drink the cheapest K-cups I can find, usually shipped. Keep thinking of going back to grinding beans.

I used to buy Peet's French Roast from Mr Peet himself in Berkeley (mid 70s -- he accepted food stamps!)

Buy almost all my coffee at Costco...either Starbucks of Kirkland French Roast, whichever is on sale.

Side note: For several years all I drank was Kona Peaberry. We stocked up every time we went to Hawai'i.
