(53,034 posts)...my mom used to make this open-face sandwich she called a Poor Boy, although it was not. What she did was cut a French bread lengthwise (like they cut bread at Subway), put raw meatloaf mix on top of it, and stick it in the oven until it was cooked. Then she'd put Kraft Singles on top of it, stick it back in the oven until the cheese melted, and served it. It is pretty good.
Fast forward to married life, and one fine day I decided to make this. Since there were only two of us we didn't need a whole French bread, so I went to the bread store and bought Outdoor Rolls. They looked perfectly lovely and appetizing.
My ex-wife didn't think so. I got screamed at for a full hour, was required to throw them away, and was forced to go to the supermarket, get food she approved of and make something else.
