And that’s it. But she was a black woman. That was a bridge too far for many people whose self-image may not have included racist misogyny.

Twice now, immensely well-qualified women have lost an election to a blisteringly incompetent blockheaded moron. So it is irrefutable that a plurality of Americans would prefer to be governed by an idiot than an intelligent woman.
