UPDATE: He got his power back on yesterday (Saturday) around noon.

His house lost power during the blizzard conditions Wednesday. The estimate is he will get it back sometime Monday.

One day after a blizzard snapped 270 Omaha Public Power District utility poles and left tens of thousands of customers without electricity, officials said it could take until Monday before power is fully restored to all.

Crews were able to restore power to 70% of customers overnight Wednesday and 300 mutual aid crews joined the effort on Thursday, essentially doubling OPPD’s headcount, said Shannon Ankeny, an OPPD spokesperson.

“We do have some really good progress that was made throughout the day,” Ankeny said.

About 26,000 OPPD customers remained without power around 5:30 p.m. Thursday. That was significantly down from a peak of around 95,000 customers who lost power in the Wednesday storm.
