(32,605 posts)60. I learned to drive a manual transmission
On an old Willys Jeep my dad used for getting around his lemon orchard in the '60's in Southern California. Up and down the rows of trees and on our long driveway. When I got my learner's permit, my dad would occasionally let me drive it when he'd go to the village to pick up mail from the Post Office. I drove nothing but manual transmission cars for years--including a brand new Jeep Cherokee that we bought in 1988 which we drove with a not quite 2 year old in his car seat when we moved from L. A. to St. Joseph, MO. That time, the dog flew and I picked her up from the airport after we'd moved into our house!

Thank you very much Basso8vb. My first car was an Impala 1965, I enjoyed it. I currently have a Subaru.
