(223 posts)38. Yes, I use pencils mostly for woodworking projects.
Army recruiter pencils are the best, the point is durable and the mark is dark. I have a couple of hand crank Boston sharpeners, but the pencils in the shop usually get sharpened with a knife.

It's fairly common in choirs, and I've also seen it in small instrumental ensembles.
