back significantly. It's that not a single type A virus was included in this year's which turns out, apparently, to be the major strain this year. So this year's shot is far more ineffective than usual. The shots will range from 30% - 60% effective most years, so they are helpful.

It's actually not a good idea to get the shot every year, that every other year is perfectly adequate.
