6. Had large dogs all my life

Currently a male leonberger (120 lbs) and a female Bernese (100 lbs).

A few German shepherds and shepherd mixes.

Our dogs are ages 2 and 4. My wife and I have discussed whether these will be our last dogs as we're aging and it's harder and harder to manage big dogs, particularly if the time comes that we move into a condo or apartment in the next decade or so.

There's a spunky little pug in our neighborhood that we meet up with occasionally on our walks. We've agreed that we might consider a pug rescue once our big puppers are gone.

Is it just my imagination or have Dobermans fallen off in popularity? Maybe it's a matter of circumstance/where I've lived, but I noticed quite a few Dobermands in my youth. As an adult, I rarely ever see one. I'll have to look that up on the great interwebz and see if there's a definitive answer.
