It wouldn't be my birthday without a tornado warning. [View all]

I was born in the immediate aftermath of one of the deadliest tornados in the nation's history. June 8, 1953, a F-5 tornado tore through the Flint, MI Beecher district. My mom went into labor at about the time the tornado hit but she was distant enough from the touch down that she was able to get to the hospital. I was born at about 2am on the 9th.

A warning just went off for the exact location where the 1953 one hit. Fortunately, it is a smaller, weaker system that will probably fad away without doing any damage.

I can remember at least 4 or 5 times since that tornadoes have hit the Flint area on either the 8th or 9th of June.

Maybe I should have come with a warning sticker.
