Easiest fudge recipe ever, in honour of National Fudge Day [View all]

Condensed milk fudge:

1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk

1 1/2 cups chocolate chips* of your choice

1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract/coffee or liquor or extract of choice

*add-ons can include anything from chopped nuts to crushed peppermint candies (I use these and peppermint extract at the holidays)

Prepare 8" x 8"pan pan by placing two sheets of waxed paper, etc to fully cover bottom and sides with overlap.

Place contents of 14 oz can sweetened, condensed milk in non-reactive saucepan. Heat slowly to just to boiling (it is milk, so don't turn your back on it!).. As soon as it just barely reaches boiling stage, remove from heat, add extract and chocolate, stir until
chocolate is completely melted, add whatever else, immediately. Pour into prepared pan, spread evenly to edges, allow to set until completely cool (about 4 hours) remove from pan, and cut into desired number of pieces.

Note: when I am making thiis as gifts I use the pans from the dollar store that come with the flat cardboard lids. No need tto remove or cut, just fold liner over, add the cover, and crimp the edges down.

*I use the bittersweet mini chips, melt easily.
