I appreciate where you are coming from here. I too feel this way about modern evengelicals as a whole. I am a progressive democrat in an very fundamental and traditional denomination.
We, as a family have been impacted positively by Obamacare. Our daughter, who is nine years old now, lost health coverage with our insurance when she was 2 years old because of multiple abdominal surgeries. In all she had 27 small bowel operations, the lastl being a triple organ transplant of the small bowel, liver and pancreas. She has met her lifetime max of 2 million dollars in just under two years.
After her transplant we were kicked off Medicaid and were forced into a state insurance pool, of which rapes the person in need of care financially. She received her transplant when she was four, so for three years we lived in complete financial ruin because of the state pool.
Because I am involved with Labor Activism, what I have noticed is that if you mention the word "union" in Christian circles it is akin to saying "abortion" or "LGBT". The Christian Right has done a very destructive job of spreading this type of bigotry throughout America. I do not condone abortion, nor do I promote and advocate LGBT lifestyles, but my point is that these are emotionally bound and producing words in Christian circles.
Christ was as much a Republican Captialist as the Pharisees were social liberals. Republicans have made labor a moral issue supporting their conservatism cause, not because it is an inherent moral issue (of which it is), but because it serves to line their pocket and demoralizes the masses in the labor pool. It serves their cause, not the cause of what is best for society.
