4. Here's my take

The law gives lifetime protection to Omma and W-Bush. These are the two Presidents that are most likely to be terrorist targets at some points in their lives after their presidency. I'd rather have them be given armed protection from assasination or kidnapping rather than a) have one of them killed in a terrorist incident in which we will have to put troops in harm's way retalliating or b) having one of them get kidnapped and having to put highly trained troops (Seals/Rangers/Berets/Marines) in harms way rescuing them.

Also, while I realize any armed protection for this President offends the nutters and the gun crowd, since when have we ever objected to federal agents being armed?
