3. I'm skeptical. People have been talking about fully automated society for at least 100 years.

Most scarcity is artificial anyway. It's a failure of organization not of technology. If robots start doing all the work don't worry the system will give half of us bullshit jobs and make the other half supervisors and prison guards.
