...GERMS is the artist, I am his "technical adviser," I guess you could say.
(I also do original "fine art," but I have largely ceased that, as I have been focusing on my band, Green Sparkle Frog, in my spare time - link below.)
I made the GERMS web site (which needs serious updating, but he uses Facebook now to promote himself), I create imaged sponges for printing which he uses in his paintings, I do his t-shirt development, color seps and production, I oversee the stained glass stuff we're developing, I prepare and layout stuff that needs printing, such as business cards and promo postcards, I've printed giclees for limited editions, and now I laser stuff for him.
In return, I have a very substantial collection of his original art, over a hundred pieces, from very tiny - one painting is about the size of a postage stamp, without its frame - to large pieces in the 3' x 6' to 4' x 8' range, and everything in-between. Needless to say, I am pulling for him to be hugely successful - his prices are now getting to the point where I'd have a hard time affording his work without the exchange for my services, or the substantial price breaks he gives me on the larger pieces.
Also, my son, who is exactly one month younger than GERMS, is a master printmaker, and also occasionally collaborates with GERMS on print projects, such as etchings and serigraphs.
If you're anywhere near L.A., you may want to consider checking out the GERMS show this coming June at La Luz de Jesus in Hollywood.
