Still, I was shocked 
to learn how very different Mickey was from Andy Hardy and similar characters he played. If his biographers are to be believed, in real life he was a foul-mouthed, rage-filled, heavy-drinking womanizer who collected for mobsters to defray some of his the massive gambling debts he owed them.
