3. Yes, and to Covid.

He'd survived cancer, but Covid took him out.

The song is on his second album, "Diamonds in the Rough."

Steve Goodman plays lead acoustic guitar, and David Grissman plays mandolin.

It also has one of Prine's best antiwar songs on it: "Take the Star Out of the Window."

The chorus:

"So it's hello California,
Hello dad and mom.
Ship ahoy your baby boy
is home from Vietnam.
Don't ask me any questions
about the medals on my chest.
Take the star out of the window
and let my conscience take a rest."

My big brother, who was a Vietnam vet., loved that song.
