And I could see a full length reboot being released in this style.

With an eardrum rupturing sound track, gratuitous chase scenes, chauvinistic & a little creepy space shower or sex scene, killer drone-robot "bodies" for HAL, and explosions taking up the screen time to replace the truly mind numbing slow action scenes of the original.

It would probably be quite popular.
