We have visited a couple of times. Having a native guide helps.
It is also affordable inspite of being a large city. We looked at some ads in realestate windows. There are quite a few listings in the area are friend lives for the low 200s. If you are remotely interested spending a month there on a shoulder season could be worth it, even if you decide not to stay. It can be tricky to get a permanent visa if you are interested in staying permanently.
