I'm so glad you can revisit the beaches of your past with much more a manageable drive. Gibby my JRT is not exactly a water lover but on hot days she finds a sandy bottomed pool no more than 2inches deep and wallows in it. She's a craven little coward!
I know for me, the attraction (besides the water and sand) is the constantly changed environment - altered by wind, rain and water from day to day. I'm glad you're settled and hopefully happy in the east although I'm insanely envious of your time in the Rockies.
