There's a movie about a curmudgeonly old man, woman, or disaffected, apathetic kid/teen, maybe from the "wrong side of the tracks," preferably a poor orphan learning the true meaning of Christmas and being reunited with children they stopped talking to over a silly disagreement (for the former) or getting adopted (the latter) that shows everything is going to be all right forever and ever.
