Governor Sanders appeals denial of Arkansas' full federal funding request [View all]

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has filed an appeal against the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s decision to deny Arkansas a 100% federal cost share adjustment for recovery efforts following the May 24 storms in Northwest and north central Arkansas.

The appeal specifically addresses funding for debris removal and emergency protective measures under Public Assistance Categories A and B, according to a news release.

On July 11, Governor Sanders initially requested full federal coverage for recovery costs, following a Major Disaster Declaration granted by the President in response to the severe weather.

However, on August 21, FEMA denied the state’s request for 100% federal funding.

How many other states demand that FEMA cover 100% of the disaster recovery costs?
