Nurse helps pilot who crashed plane into her pickup truck after takeoff: ‘Accidents happen’

PLEASANT GROVE, Calif. (KCRA) - A California woman is sharing her story after a plane crashed into her pickup truck on Tuesday.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the crop dusting plane, a single-engine RC-3, clipped a fence, then hit Arata’s truck while attempting to take off from a runway right next to the road.

Arata says once witnesses got her out of the truck where she was trapped, her nursing instincts kicked in and she checked on the pilot.

“He’s like, ‘Are you OK?’” Arata recalled. “And we hugged, you know, and he’s like, ‘I’m so sorry.’ And I was like, ‘That’s why it’s an accident. Accidents happen.’”
