2. Fares are currently free in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill

This was started several years ago, keeps being renewed, but could end this summer or next. Only Chapel Hill has had fare free service for over twenty years.

The combined Raleigh Durham Chapel Hill population is nearly two million, more than double that of DC.
